Scotia Investments Repurchase Agreements (REPO)

What are REPOS?

A REPO is contract between Scotia Investments and yourself where –

• We agree to sell you a security (ies) for a purchase price payable in cash. In return we agree to repurchase, and you agree to resell to us the security (ies) some time in the future for a specific price.
• You will receive a transaction confirmation issued by Scotia Investments which will describe: the transaction date, the interest rate, the purchase price, the repurchase date and the repurchase price. It will also state the currency in which payments will be made at the maturity date and any other transactional details.

What is the minimum holding

You can choose from a range of investments periods, with the minimum being 30 days.

What are the risks associated with this investment?

The risks associated with the repos are relatively low as they are secured by the underlying securities which are typically issued by the Bank of Jamaica and Government of Jamaica.
